Is Responsive to the Climate Crisis
Low-rise buildings are more climate-adaptable than high-rise towers, as they can be more easily retrofitted with the advent of better sustainable building solutions and changing societal needs, such as new green technologies and climate-smart approaches.
Building a lower-rise development allows the use of wood and timber materials in construction, resulting in less embodied carbon in the built environment and less GHG emissions during construction and manufacture of building components.
The building designs in our proposal provide more and better access to light and cross-breezes, as suites generally have windows on opposing sides. This facilitates the natural cooling effects of airflow that can reduce energy consumption from air conditioning in hotter months, particularly during extreme weather events, such as heat domes.
